Sanchay Bose
Sanchay Bose is a filmmaker and editor from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, whose artistic sensibility has been shaped in part by a strong family background in classical music. His journey into cinema began while studying film and media in Pune, where he first discovered the medium as a serious creative calling. He later went on to work as a freelance editor in Mumbai, contributing to a wide range of projects across web series, feature films, and documentaries.
Over the years, he has built a distinct body of work marked by both craft and curiosity. He assisted Kamal Swaroop on the documentary Samudra Manthan (2019), received a film grant from the Charles Correa Foundation’s Nagari Film Competition in 2021, and won the Best Film award for his short film Taal Betaal. His debut editorial feature film, Kayo Kayo Colour?, premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and later received the Young Critic Choice Award at MAMI and the NETPAC Award at Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival.
Sanchay’s work has also stayed closely connected to environmental and social concerns. He has contributed as an editor to the documentary series Red Not Nation, centred on climate change in India, and has directed documentary films for Jan Chetna Manch Bokaro in association with Little Hamlet Films. Through this collaboration, he has contributed to telling grounded, community-linked stories with sensitivity and cinematic depth.
Currently based in Jabalpur, Sanchay has recently concluded the shoot of his debut fiction feature film, inspired by his documentary Taal Betaal.
